| 5.16.2005 Howdy once again to all the friends and fans of BMR! So many good things have happened for us in such a short amount of time, it’s hard to know where to begin. Our new CD on Lonesome Day Records “On the Rise” is finally out and ready for radio airplay. BMR, Lonesome Day Records, and Hope River Entertainment held a CD release party May 14 at the Maryville College Campus in Maryville, TN, and it was a wonderful success. Tickets to this event sold so well in advance that we were forced to change the venue at the last minute from the Fine Arts Music Hall to the Wilson Chapel so that we would have enough seats to accommodate the 500 friends and fans that came out for the party. Justin Moses joined the band on stage that night to do a fantastic job on fiddle and dobro and we were also able to get Sierra Hull to make a very special guest appearance and play an absolutely incredible version of the Bill Monroe classic, Big Mon! We would like to send out a heartfelt thanks to all the sponsors that helped to make this event such a success: Pepsi, Moon Pie, GHS Strings, Intellitouch Tuners, Chota Outfitters, Roy’s Record Shop, Ciderville Music, Century 21, and Volunteer Federal Bank. Most of all, we would like to thank all of you, our loyal fans, for coming out to support us and have a good time at our CD release party! Please continue to call in to your favorite bluegrass radio station with requests for songs from our new CD! Our first single from the new CD, the Tim Tipton original “Papaw Taught Me,” was released on the March edition of Prime Cuts of Bluegrass and we’re proud to report that our song is currently ranked the No. 4 cut from that CD. We started out the month of April by traveling down to LaGrange, GA, to play at the world famous Hoofer’s Gospel Barn for the very first time. Not only is Hoofer’s a great place to play and listen to some of the best bands in bluegrass, they also have one of the very best restaurants that we’ve ever been to! We had a little van trouble on the way down and the trusty blue Chevy that we’ve traveled in for the past five years finally went to it’s final resting place. We would like to send out a special thanks to Rick Torrence, owner of Hoofer’s Gospel Barn, for coming to the rescue of a very tired, cold, and hungry bluegrass band, for transporting us and all our equipment to the show, and loaning us one of his vans to make the trip back home. Rick, you‘re a true friend and it was a blessing to get to know you! We’re currently looking for a dependable van to replace Old Blue because Justin Jenkins just doesn’t seem the same now that his favorite bench/bed is gone! Our next April appearance was at the Lonesome River Band Music Fest in beautiful Live Oak, FL. The festival was a huge success and BMR got to share the stage with some of the hottest bluegrass bands in the business like The Lonesome River Band, Mountain Heart, Larry Sparks, Wildfire, Ernie Thacker, and many more. Special thanks to Don Miller for making us a part of this terrific festival and we certainly look forward to playing there again in the near future. Be sure to catch our show on May 27th at the WDVX Camperfest that‘s being held May 26th through May 29th at the Dumplin‘ Valley Farm in Kodak, TN. Camperfest is an annual fundraising event for WDVX radio station that features nearly 40 of the very best entertainers in Bluegrass and Americana music. For more information and to purchase advance tickets for this very worthwhile event, please visit www.WDVX.com. May 28th will find us at the Echo in the Mountains Bluegrass Festival at Frozen Head State Park in Wartburg, TN. This festival is being organized by our good friend David Howard from the band Lone Mountain Station and is sure to be a wonderful time for all in attendance. Frozen Head State Park is a beautiful place to hike, camp, picnic, and listen to bluegrass music! For more information, please contact David Howard at (423) 346-3529. May 29th will take us to Indiana for the very first time where we’ll be appearing at the Northern Indiana Bluegrass Association 29th Annual Memorial Day Weekend Tri-State Bluegrass Festival at the Noble County 4-H Fairgrounds in Kendallville, Indiana. We’re really excited about this show because we’ll be joined by special guests Ron Stewart on fiddle and Justin Moses on dobro and guitar. For more information, go to www.bluegrassusa.net. May 30th will bring us back home again for our second annual appearance at the Little Tennessee River Music Festival at the Sequoyah Birthplace Museum in Keith and Tim’s stomping ground of Vonore, TN. This festival was absolutely wonderful last year and we’re positive that it will be even better this year. We’ll be appearing with Robinella and the C.C. String Band and many more. For more information, please visit www.sequoyahmuseum.org. Well, that’s about it for now, but be sure to check our schedule page often for new BMR appearances that will continue to be added as we go. Again, many thanks to all our fine sponsors (GHS Strings, Intellitouch Tuners, and Chota Outfitters) and to all of you, our wonderful fans, for supporting the music of Blue Moon Rising. Be sure to check out our merchandise page to purchase your copy of our new Lonesome Day Records CD, “On the Rise.” God bless and be safe until we meet again somewhere down the road! |
