Hello from BMR!  We would like to take a moment to give you some news from the road and tell you a little about where we’ve been, where we’re going, and some very exciting things that are going on.

“This Old Martin Box,” written by Dave Carroll, continues to climb the Bluegrass Unlimited charts and is currently at # 5 in the Top 30 Bluegrass Singles Chart and “On the Rise” is currently at # 7 in the Top 15 Bluegrass Albums Chart for July.  We can’t thank everyone enough for calling in to your local radio and satellite radio stations to request our music and for buying our albums.  Special thanks also to all our online fans who tune us in via the World Wide Web.

We would like to welcome our new fan club president, Kelly Paul.  Kelly is a good friend who has been to a whole bunch of BMR shows and is sure to do a fine job as our fan club president.  To join our fan club, just send a Kelly an e-mail at
bmrfanclub@yahoo.com.

Well folks, the second ballot for the 2006 IBMA World of Bluegrass awards just came out and we’re very excited to be on the ballot in the following categories:
Song of the Year for “This Old Martin Box” written by Dave Carroll, Album of the Year for “On the Rise,” Vocal Group of the Year, Instrumental Group of the Year, and Emerging Artist of the Year.  This is the key ballot that decides whether or not we are nominated in the afore mentioned categories and we would very much appreciate your vote so we can get on the third and final ballot.  For more information and to find out how to become a voting member of IBMA, please visit www.ibma.org.

Since our last update, we’ve been busy running the roads, pickin’ some grass, and promoting our latest Lonesome Day Records release, “On the Rise.”  In June we traveled to Preston, CT, to put on our show at the Strawberry Park Bluegrass Festival and to play live on WFSB TV 3‘s morning news program.  It had been raining a lot through the night and into the morning, but the rain stopped long enough for us to play our show for some hardcore Connecticut bluegrass fans who weren‘t scared off by the rain.  We had a great time and look forward to going back someday!  It was great to see and play for all our friends at the Tennessee Tandem Rally in June as well.  We saw some familiar faces and even managed to do a verse and chorus of “When the Mountain Fell Down” by special request.  Later that month we were thrilled to see our good friends, the Longmires, at the Clinch Mountain Bluegrass Festival in Blaine, TN.  From there we went to Summersville, WV, to play the Music in the Mountains festival; Harlan, KY, to play at the Goin’ Back to Harlan Bluegrass Festival; and the River of Music Festival in Owensboro, KY.  It was a very busy weekend, but we had a great time and met a lot of wonderful fans.  In July, we played at the Sawbriar Acoustic Stage in Pilot Mountain, NC.  Special thanks to Cammie and Ben for some wonderful hospitality, some great food, and one of the best sound systems and sound men we’ve ever had the good fortune of playing for.  Be sure and stop in at the Sawbriar folks if you happen to be close to the Pilot Mountain area.  Yesterday, we played at the White Oak Mountain Bluegrass Festival in Cleveland, TN, and had a great day.  J.D. Crowe and the New South was there to close out the show and it was great to hear those guys again.

Well, that’s about it for now, but please remember to support our fine sponsors GHS Strings, Intellitouch Tuners, Chota Outfitters, Colorado Case Company, Edmonds Guitars.  We guarantee that you’ll be satisfied with the quality products that only these fine companies can provide!  Also, please remember to visit our page at CMT.com and sign our message board.  The more message board traffic we get on that page, the longer we get to keep it.  We also have our own page now at Myspace.com at
www.myspace.com/bluemoonrising.  Be sure to stop by there and be our friend!  God bless and be safe until we meet again somewhere down the road!

Sincerely,
BMR
