| 8.29.2005 Hello once again to all our friends and fans! As we head into the fall season, we sincerely hope that each and everyone has had a wonderful and memorable summer filled with family, fun, and bluegrass music! We can’t thank you enough for making our summer one of the most memorable so far and for continuing to support us by coming to our live shows and buying our music. Thanks to all the radio stations that continue to play our music! Our new CD debuted on the Roots Music Report at #25 the week of August 12th and we were also the featured artist for the month of August on www.bluegrassradio.org. We kicked off the month of June at the World Famous Station Inn in Nashville, TN, to play to a wonderful crowd and promote our new CD, “On the Rise.” Our good friends One Way Track traveled down to Nashville to the Station Inn to play with us and we were joined on stage that night by our very special guest and good friend Ron Stewart on fiddle! A wonderful time was had by all and it was great to play at the Station Inn once again and share the experience with some very special friends. The next day we traveled back home to Maryville, TN, to play for our good friends at the East Tennessee Tandem Bike Rally. This was our third year at this event and we enjoyed seeing some familiar faces! Later that night, we took our show to the Lyric Theatre in downtown Loudon, TN, to play for a capacity crowd and had a great time! June 10th and 11th took us to Ohio where we played the Mickey’s Mountain Bluegrass Festival in Hopedale. This was our second year at Mickey’s Mountain and we look forward to going back in the near future. The next night, we traveled back down to play an event organized by our good friend Steve Ryan in Groveport, OH, and had a wonderful time as well. June 17th found us playing as part of the Lonesome Day Records Tour at the Mountain Arts Center in Prestonsburg, KY, with fellow Lonesome Day Records artists Lou Reid and Carolina, Randy Kohrs, Jeff Parker, and The Boohers. The show was a great success and a very enjoyable evening for all in attendance. June 24th took us back to one of our favorite East Tennessee venues, The Clinch Mountain Bluegrass Festival, organized by our great friends Jeff and Janet Longmire. This year’s lineup was incredible and featured performances by IIIrd Tyme Out, The Lonesome River Band, Pine Mountain Railroad, Michelle Nixon and Drive, Wildfire, The Boohers, and many more. This was our third year at the Clinch Mountain Bluegrass Festival and believe us folks, you need to add this festival to your list for next year! July 4th weekend took us for the very first time to Benton, PA, for The OATS Bluegrass Festival, “Out Among the Stars.” This was a fantastic festival that featured performances by James King, Michelle Nixon and Drive, The Lost and Found, The Lynn Morris Band, The Cherryholmes Family, and many more. We were joined on stage once again for this show by our very talented friend Ron Stewart on fiddle. Special thanks to Trish Lundberg for making us part of this year’s lineup, for the great hospitality from The Grillbillies, and all the nice folks that we met in Pennsylvania. We certainly look forward to going back in the future! July 9th and 10th took us for the very first time to Washburn, ND, for the Missouri River Bluegrass & Old Time Music Festival. We had such a wonderful time at this festival and it was fun to play the same show once again with our good friends from the band Cedar Hill. This festival also marked the debut of the Blue Moon Rising 100 meter dash between Keith, Randall, and Justin and folks you should see the spill that Randall took! Fortunately, we have it all on tape thanks to our good friend Jill Wiese and (if we ever decide to make one) will be sure to include it in a DVD project! We had such a good time in North Dakota and would like to thank the Andrus family and the Wiese family for such great hospitality and for making our trip so memorable. July 23rd and 24th took us for the very first time to Marquette, MI, for the Hiawatha Traditional Music Festival. We had a fantastic time playing for a huge and enthusiastic crowd and were privileged to share the bill with the likes of the great Maura O‘Connell and also with the great Jonathan Edwards. We were joined on this show by our good friend and special guest Justin Moses who did an incredible job on fiddle and dobro. Special thanks to Jim and Susan for the overwhelming hospitality. July 30th brought us back home to play the Fentress County Bluegrass Festival in Jamestown, TN. We were again joined by special guest Justin Moses on fiddle and dobro for this show and were fortunate to run into our good friends from the great bluegrass band Kentucky Wind. August 27th was our first time ever at the Bluegrass in the Smokies festival in Sevierville, TN, and we had a very large time indeed. The Fritts Family puts on a super bluegrass festival every year and we would like to thank them for making us a part of their lineup at this year’s festival. Other artists in attendance were Blue Highway, The Lonesome River Band, IIIrd Tyme Out, The Kenny and Amanda Smith Band, Larry Sparks and The Lonesome Ramblers, and many more. Thanks to all our friends and fans for coming out to see us and coming over to the table to shake and howdy! We’re getting ready for two huge months in September and October. Look for us September 2nd at the Bass Mountain Bluegrass Festival in Bass Mountain, North Carolina; September 3rd and 4th at the Sertoma Labor Day Bluegrass Festival at the Sertoma Youth Ranch in Dade City, Florida; September 9th at the Pennyroyal Opera House in Barnesville, Ohio; September 10th at the Mountaineer Opry House in Milton, West Virginia; September 17th and 18th at the Bluegrassin‘ in the Foothills festival at Amador County Fairgrounds in Plymouth, California; and September 24th at the Perry Auction Center in Statesville, North Carolina. October 24th - 28th we’ll be at IBMA in Nashville, TN, playing the Hope River Entertainment, Lonesome Day Records, and California Bluegrass Association suites. We’ll keep you posted as more showcases are added! Well, that’s about it for now, but please remember to support our fine sponsors GHS Strings, Intellitouch Tuners, and Chota Outfitters. We guarantee that you’ll be satisfied with the quality products that only these fine companies can provide! God bless and be safe until we meet again somewhere down the road! |
